This research direction focuses on the processes and mechanisms of the Tethys Ocean subduction, the India–Eurasia continental collision, and the TP growth. The research group studies the structure and composition of the Tibetan lithosphere, endogenetic dynamics of plateau growth, the multispheric responses of the TP’s surface to the collision and uplift, the coupling effect of tectonics-climate-environment, the genesis and distribution of mineral resources, the mechanism of geological hazards. We aim to provide a firm scientific foundation for the theoretical development of Earth System Science, assessment, development and management of natural resources, environmental protection, ecological construction.
