Research Interest
Research Interests: Igneous Petrology; Geochemistry; Tectonics
I am a tectonic petrologist. I focus on a variety of magmatism and tectonics including oceanic subduction from initiation to break-off and collision of the continents. My research interests are also broadly in igneous petrology and magmatism, with a focus on better understanding processes of magma migration, and storage within the deep crust. I have particular interests in understanding the role of volatiles in magmatic processes and in using crystal textures to understand the physical behavior of crystal mushes near the Moho depths. I use the chemistry of the rock record to better answer fundamental questions relating to the formation and differentiation of the Earth’s crust through magmatic processes. My main field areas have included Himalaya, Tibet, Myanmar, Pakistan and Iran.
Research Fields: Igneous Petrology
